As written in the presentation of the exhibition, Jacquard weaving loom was controlled by a series of punch cards, where one row of holes corresponded to one row of thread in the design. Later this control system became a source of inspiration to many inventors and now is considered the basis for modern programming.
For this exhibition, Graphic designer Paulius Friedt, who have designed this website have «invented» a system of signs that resembles idea of Joseph Marie Jacquard: a code system, where one written sign (a letter corresponds to the pattern of the grid of 3×3 squares of filled and empty spaces.
Thats why some of the text on this website is «coded». To decipher the text you need either to follow the FB site for the exhibition: Where you can get one or two letters/signs of the code each day until 10th of February. Or: you can also visit the opening of the exhibition and get the catalogue which can give you some hints.
