The sexuality of an apple

The history of an apple is also the history of human and his/her sexuality. The selected (innocent) motif implied confrontations of sexuality, tensions in the relations between a man and a woman, paraphrases of the fruit as the object of lust and as the icon of sin.

It (the apple) is actually remarkably beautiful, desirable and worth to be the fruit of temptation. The cross-sections of the apple reveal another, not always seen, but very obvious and recognizable perspective of sexuality. The cross-sections reveal our hermaphroditic background. The same as this apple, we are he and she in one – the longing of the other half giving us perfection and harmony in our every thought and every move. The work exposes the primordial and omnipresent communion of life. The apple’s diversity of colours, its texture – they are decorative and textile based. However, it is also just a simple apple, speaking of the unperceived uniqueness of our everyday objects.
